Proposed 2019 Postage Increase Effective January 27, 2019 (Pending PRC Approval)

The United States Postal Service announced their proposed postage increases for 2019. If approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) the rates will go into effect on January 27, 2019. A decision is expected in mid-November.

Postage Rate Goes into Effect January 21, 2018

This fall the USPS filed a rate case for a postage increase that will go into effect on January 21, 2018. The overall increase is around 1.9% for First Class and Marketing Mail (formerly Standard), with some categories seeing a higher percentage.

Approved 2017 Postage Increase – Effective January 22, 2017

New LOWER Postage Rates – Effective April 10, 2016

It is official, the exigent surcharge (see DMS blog posts dated 12/2015, 8/2015 and 6/2015) is ending and as a result the postage rates are lower as of April 10th, 2016. Examples of the new, lower rates include:

The United States Postal Service announced at the November Mailers Technical Advisory Committee (MTAC) meeting that there would be no price increase for market-dominant products in 2016.
